SHORT INCA TRAIL -RAINBOWN MOUNTAIN 4D/3N

The Rainbow Mountain Peru, officially named Vinicunca, are stunning and a bucket list destination for many. Situated near the incredible Ausangate Mountain A two days breathtaking trek in the Cordillera Vilcanota, on a route we call the “Camino del Apu Ausangate” located in close proximity to the highest, sacred mountain in the Cusco region.
The “Apu” is the bearer of life and the guardian of one of the most pristine mountain ecosystems in the world. Our treks will be accompanied by llamas and horses that carry our gear, which that are owned by the shepherds of the Chillca community whom are proud to share with us their land and the spirit of this inspiring world. On our hikes and in our unique.
A shorter version of the Inca Trail leaves from KM 104, 2100 m (104 kilometers along the railway from Cusco to Aguas Calientes) and involves a four hour walk uphill to the Wiñay-Wayna Complex at 2700 m followed by a couple of hours further to Machu Picchu, to experience this last part of the Classic Inca Trail. This 2-Day Tour covers a 16-km Inca Trail in the first day, joining the Classic 4-day trail at the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay-Wayna. (Only Inca Trail hikers get to enjoy these ruins!!!) The name means “Forever Young” in Quechua, the indigenous language, and is taken from that of the pink and purple orchid that grows here. Farming terraces, “Andenes”, surrounding the whole side of a mountain decorate this ancient Inca castle that includes temples, buildings and water channels. The stonework is high in quality with fine masonry and includes a magnificent sequence of fifteen ritual fountain baths. It was a religious centre, probably associated with the ritual worship of water. Chachabamba is another very interesting Inca complex that you will visit, from where you will also have views of Inti-pata and Choquesuysuy, other ruins hiding in the middle of the beautiful mountains and the lower part of the sub-tropical valley.

Trekkers continue the hike all the way to Machu Picchu, where you will observe the famous view from Intipunku (the Sun Gate) and spend the night in a comfortable hostel in Aguas Calientes. Groups then will return (Guided group average 8 -12 people max) to Machu Picchu for a guided tour on the second day. This private tour of Machu Picchu will take place very early so as to avoid the large crowds that arrive on the first train from Cusco, then you will have free time to explore on your own, or climb Huayna Picchu.
