Cusco city

We’ll overnight in the beautiful city of Cusco, rich with well preserved colonial architecture and history. Cusco represents the center of indigenous Quechua culture in the Andes, and by merely walking the streets one sees the layers of history. Spanish colonial buildings erected directly atop Inca walls line the square, while the modern tourist nightlife flourishes in their midst.

We propose a most unique cultural and photographic tour that will take us to the Sacred Valley of the Incas the city of Cusco and the citadel of Machu Picchu with an extension to Puno and Lake Titicaca

We will visit the most important and the best preserved ruins of what was once the vast Inca empire. Cusco, probably the oldest city in the continent, was the capital and seat of the empire´s government and became it is main cultural center and hub of religious worship.

The center of the city retains many ancient buildings; the main square and streets have been recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

The Sacred Valley lies between the towns of Pisaq and Ollantaytambo, with wonderfull andean landscapes. Its native inhabitants, who belong to the Quechua ethnic group, still keep ancient customs and rituals. During the tour, we will learn about the higher technological development achieved by the Incas and the Spanish. We will discover the wealth in folklore and crafts of the people, their lifestyle and their clothing, during our visit to the markets of Pisaq, Chinchero and Moray.

One of the most special moments of this tour is definitely the visit to Machu Picchu: a magical place full of enigmas and history that will fill us with awe. Finally for those who decide to extend the trip, at Lake Titikaka we will uncover communities that live in midst of an unimaginable landcape
