Day 1: Atacama Desert Photo Tour

Photography Highlights: Vast salt flats, colorful sunsets, surreal landscapes
Your Atacama Desert adventure begins with a scenic drive to one of the driest places on Earth, where the landscape feels almost otherworldly. On this first day, we’ll explore the Salt Flats of Atacama (Salar de Atacama), a photographer’s dream, with its expansive, reflective surfaces and towering salt formations.
As the sun begins to set, prepare your camera for stunning golden hour light. The way the sun paints the landscape with warm hues makes this the perfect time to capture wide panoramic shots of the endless salt crusts and distant mountains.
Later, we'll head to the Cejar Lagoon, a striking turquoise oasis amidst the desert. This is where the landscape comes alive with color, and if you're lucky, you'll catch the mystical light that Atacama is famous for—rich tones and shadows that transform the environment.
We’ll finish the day with an optional astrophotography session (weather permitting). The clear skies here offer some of the best stargazing in the world, ideal for shooting the Milky Way and star trails.
📸 Photography tip: Focus on the textures of the salt flats and the contrast between the bright lagoon and desert surroundings. The surreal colors of the sunset are perfect for wide-angle shots, while the skies above can be stunning for long exposure shots.

Day 2: Atacama Desert – A Photographer's Paradise

Photography Highlights: Valle de la Luna, Salt Flats, Flamingos, Sunset Magic
On Day 2, get ready for a full day of capturing the surreal and striking beauty of the Atacama Desert—one of the driest places on Earth. This day will be a blend of salt flats, colorful deserts, and the ever-changing light that makes the Atacama a dream destination for photographers.
We'll begin with a visit to the Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), where the landscape feels otherworldly—sharp rock formations, salt crusts, and vibrant hues of red, orange, and purple. As the sun rises higher, you'll have opportunities to capture incredible landscape shots, perfect for wide-angle lenses.
Next, we’ll head to the Salt Flats—an expansive, glistening white wonderland, with geometric patterns on the ground. Here, you can play with perspectives and reflections to create unique compositions.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Laguna Chaxa, where flamingos wade gracefully in the shallow waters of the salt lagoon. This is a perfect moment for wildlife photography with the stunning desert backdrop.
As the day wraps up, we’ll head to a prime sunset location for an unforgettable end to the day. The golden light will transform the desert, creating a dramatic contrast between the cool salt flats and the warm, shifting colors of the sky—perfect for breathtaking sunset shots.
 Best Time for Photos:
  • Early morning light at Valle de la Luna
  • Afternoon wildlife photography at Laguna Chaxa
  • Sunset over the Salt Flats

After a day of exploring the desert's unique landscapes--salt flats, sand dunes, and rock formations—we’ll head to a prime stargazing location where you’ll have the chance to capture the Milky Way, star trails, and even planets and distant galaxies.
With guidance from a professional photographer, you'll learn how to use your camera to capture the night sky in all its glory. Whether you're an experienced astrophotographer or a beginner, you’ll leave with stunning, high-quality images of the cosmos.
Best shot of the day: Long exposure shots of the Milky Way stretching across the desert, surrounded by eerie rock formations.

On this photography-focused day, you’ll have the chance to shoot expansive vistas of desert landscapes, the surreal Laguna Miscanti, and Laguna Miñiques, both set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. The reflections in the lakes are ideal for landscape photography, offering perfect mirror images in the early morning and late afternoon.
Wildlife is abundant here, so don’t forget your long lens as you might encounter flamingos and other high-altitude birds in the lagoons. The light at sunrise and sunset is simply magical, providing the ideal conditions for dramatic skies and changing colors across the terrain.
